what is this place?
welcome to the internet when it still felt like a secret place for misfits. this is a 2008-2014 music blog, frozen in time like a tumblr post you reblogged at 3am with the caption "this."
we're talking about the era when you discovered bands through other people's playlists, not algorithms. when you wore skinny jeans unironically. when you thought the right arctic monkeys lyric in your bio could fix everything.
why 2008-2014?
because that's when the internet felt different. tumblr wasn't owned by yahoo yet. bandcamp was still new. you could still find music before spotify told everyone what to listen to. indie actually meant independent.
this was the golden age of music blogs, diy bedroom recordings, and finding your new favorite band through a youtube comment section. no bots. no ai. no viral marketing. just real people sharing real feelings through really good music.
what you'll find here
music posts featuring bands you forgot existed (or never knew about). dream pop, indie rock, bedroom pop, and everything in between. if it made you feel something while staring out a window, it's probably here.
movies that defined the aesthetic. wes anderson wannabes, michael cera energy, and soundtracks that were better than the films (but the films were still perfect).
videos you watched obsessively. the kind you saved to favorites and rewatched until youtube's view counter broke.
the vibe
polaroids. vinyl crackle. fairy lights. moleskine notebooks filled with song lyrics. walking to nowhere with those white apple earbuds tangled in your pocket. wired, because bluetooth headphones weren't really a thing yet. staying up too late on tumblr. the smiths playing while you pretend to do homework. that feeling when a song just gets it.
if you remember when "hipster" wasn't an insult yet, when flannel shirts and docs were a personality, when you judged people by their last.fm, you're home.
who made this?
someone who spent way too much time on tumblr between 2008 and 2014. someone who still has playlists called "are you really just an unusual concoction of chemicals drifting in a vast sea of time & space?" and "2am thoughts." someone who believes the internet peaked before everyone's mom joined facebook.
this is a love letter to an era. a museum for feelings. a time capsule that keeps growing with new discoveries: songs, movies, and videos that capture the same spirit. old gems you forgot about and new finds that prove the vibe never really died.
